PERLIS MEGA MADANI AGRO CARNIVAL RECORDS SALES OF OVER RM920,000

KANGAR, July 17 (Bernama) -- The three-day state-level Mega MADANI Agro Sales Carnival and the “Santai Agropreneur Muda” programme held here since July 12  recorded a sales value of RM929,132, exceeding the target of RM750,000.

Perlis Federal Agricultural Marketing Board (FAMA) director Mohd Anzara Azizan said the sales recorded were for five clusters, namely MADANI Agro Sales, Food Industry and Agro-Based, Fruits, Floriculture and Popular Food.

"Overall, this carnival received a favourable response from the people of Perlis and achieved the target set. The number of visitors also exceeded the target of  30,000 people. The event attracted 35,000 visitors.

"According to a survey, apart from the people of Perlis, visitors from neighbouring states like Kedah and Penang also went to the carnival," he said in a statement today.

Mohd Anzara said a total of 3,800 packets of Local White Rice and 2,000 trays of chicken eggs, as well as 10 metric tons of perishable food, such as fish, meat, vegetables and fruits, were sold at the carnival through the FAMA Operations Centre,  the Perlis Fishermen's Association and entrepreneurs under the Farmers' Organisation Authority (FOA).

"A total of 2,800 MADANI combo sets offered for RM10 containing chicken, vegetables and onions were also sold," he said.

He said FAMA, in collaboration with the Royal Malaysia Police (PDRM), also organised the 'High Profile Policing' programme, offering a 50 per cent discount on summons compound and also held an exhibition featuring PDRM assets.

The carnival was opened by the Deputy Secretary-General (Development) of the Ministry of Agriculture and Food Security (KPKM) Datuk Badrul Hisham Mohd
