KUALA LUMPUR, July 18 (Bernama) -- Various exciting events are being lined up for the two-day Malaysian Rubber Board (LGM) Technology Day 2024 celebration from Tuesday (July 23) at Akademi Hevea Malaysia in Sungai Buloh, Selangor.

LGM deputy director-general (Policy and Operations) Wan Ahmad Asmady Wan Md Din said the events included seminars for smallholders, LGM Rubber Workshop 2024, a clinic on rubber, quizzes and a game of congkak using rubber seeds.

"Visitors also stand to win the grand prize of an electric scooter in the lucky draw,” he said as a guest on Bernama TV's 'Apa Khabar Malaysia’ programme today.

He added that besides providing exposure to the public about the technology used in the rubber industry, the main aim of the celebration is to unite the industry players, rubber technology users and government agencies.

LGM deputy director-general (Research and Innovation) Dr Mok Kok Lang said the celebration would be officiated by Minister of Plantation and Commodities Datuk Seri Johari Abdul Ghani.

She added that an exhibition would also be held where the public would also be able to see products produced by LGM throughout its 99 years of research.

"The public can see rubber products, such as the High Damping Rubber Bearing (effective in protecting structures from damaging effects of an earthquake) used for the Second Penang Bridge.

"In addition, the public can also see rubber products like Hydrobest used in the upstream sector to increase rubber production up to 30 per cent,” she said.

Hydrobest is a water-based latex stimulant with dual purposes, to increase tree productivity and minimise the occurrence of dryness incidence.

Mok also invited smallholders to register for diesel subsidy assistance under the BUDI MADANI initiative during the celebration.

"On July 23, there will also be the launch of the 100-year Rubber Research logo, RRIM e-Formulary and the exchange of the Commercialisation Agreement between LGM and Bina Integrated Industries Sdn Bhd,” she said.
