KEMBARA MERDEKA CONVOY TO SPREAD PATRIOTIC SPIRIT ACROSS 10 STATES

CYBERJAYA, July 21 (Bernama) -- The Kembara Merdeka Jalur Gemilang (KMJG) 2024 convoy will travel through 10 states and promote patriotism among Malaysians in conjunction with the National Day and Malaysia Day (HKHM) 2024 celebrations.

The flag off of the convoy, which includes 50 high powered motorcycles from the Suzuki V-Strom Owners Club Malaysia (SVOCM), was conducted by Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim during the launch of the National Month and Jalur Gemilang 2024 celebrations at Cyber Event Hall here today.

SVOCM president Mohamad Zaidi Yahya, 64, said the spirit shown by the members of the convoy, who are of various races and religions, was an expression of their patriotism and dedication to their country.

“Participants of various backgrounds, including civil servants, corporates and self-employed… we mix together and what’s important is our friendship, no matter what our race.

“This convoy is part of efforts to promote the National Day celebrations and there are programmes arranged that we will join in each state we travel through… We also will present aid to those in need, which is our club’s own initiative,” he said.

The convoy will travel through 10 states, including Selangor, Johor, Melaka, Terengganu, Perak, Kelantan, Kedah, Penang, Perlis and finally end in Kuala Lumpur, he said.

“Our journey will end on Aug 21 before we reconvene for the National Day parade. This is the first time we collaborated with the Information Department (JaPen),” he said when met by Bernama.

Meanwhile, SVOCM secretary Senthil Kumaran, 47, expressed his thanks to JaPen for its willingness to cooperate with the club for this event.

“Thank you as well to the MADANI government, including the Communications Ministry,” he said.

The convoy includes 90 participants and 65 vehicles, including those from JaPen, the police, Selangor non-governmental organisations, agencies and local communities.
