KUALA LUMPUR, July 23 (Bernama) -- The Federal Agricultural Marketing Authority (FAMA) has formed a strategic partnership with TikTok Shop to host the ‘Agromarketing Masterclass: TikTok Shop Edition’ programme, aimed at boosting the knowledge and income of FAMA entrepreneurs.
The pilot programme saw the participation of 80 FAMA-registered companies across Malaysia, including 12 disabled entrepreneurs, involved in producing fresh and processed agro-food products.
According to FAMA, the programme was conducted in two sessions, with the first featuring 40 companies at the Seri Pacific Hotel from June 7 to 9 and the second involving another 40 companies at Komune Living and Wellness from July 5 to 7.
“For the first group, 175 stock keeping units (SKUs) of fresh and processed agro-food products were featured on the TikTok Shop app and participants learned both marketing techniques on TikTok Shop and delivery methods using City-Link Express.
“The cumulative sales from the live sessions were RM12,657.15, and the total sales value up until June 30 was RM340,562.09,” according to FAMA.
The second group saw 250 SKUs of fresh and processed agro-food products listed on the TikTok Shop app and UNIFI was also involved to provide internet access to participants in their respective locations.
“The ‘wow factor’ of the programme is the live sharing sessions on TikTok Shop, where FAMA entrepreneurs, including those in crop production and the livestock sector, showcase their products, thereby attracting consumer interest,” said FAMA.
Through this collaboration, FAMA aims to boost entrepreneurs’ income by 50 per cent and increase the demand for fresh agro-food products, such as fruits, vegetables, flowers, and livestock.
According to FAMA, the comprehensive programme will run from June to December and include four phases, namely Training, Monitoring, Competition, and will conclude with an Award Ceremony to honour successful FAMA entrepreneurs.
