KPKT Mid-Year Review: Achieves 85 Pct Of 2024 Budget Initiatives - Nga

PUTRAJAYA, Aug 2 (Bernama) -- The Ministry of Housing and Local Government (KPKT) has achieved 85 per cent implementation of its 2024 Budget initiatives as of June 21 this year, highlighted Minister Nga Kor Ming.

He stated that of the 12 initiatives outlined in the budget with a total allocation of RM737.9 million, 10 have already achieved over 85 per cent of their targets within just six months.

The 10 initiatives include upgrading public toilets, street lighting replacement, upgrading dilapidated public markets, maintenance of non-Islamic places of worship, and improving and repairing drainage systems.

"The mid-year achievements of KPKT encompass five key areas: the 2024 Budget Initiatives, the MADANI Malaysia Strategic Framework, the Task Force on Sick and Abandoned Private Housing Projects (TFST), the KPKT Sentuhan Kasih programme, and the Drafting of Bills/Amendment of Acts Plan.

"These achievements represent the collaboration and high commitment of all departments and agencies under KPKT in meeting the set targets," he said during the Morning Chat with YB KM: Exclusive Mid-Year Review Interview programme, here today.

Nga noted that as of June 30, 2024, the KPKT team has successfully met the MADANI Malaysia Strategic Framework targets and will continue to intensify efforts for the well-being of the people.

"KPKT has successfully revived 247 sick projects and five abandoned projects, with a total gross development value of RM19.13 billion through TFST.

“One of our greatest achievements is the Sentuhan Kasih Programme, which reaches out to the people at the grassroots level," he said.

Since its introduction in 2023, the Sentuhan Kasih programme has implemented a total of 27 initiatives with an allocation of RM1.467 billion.

The funding covered development projects and the maintenance of public infrastructure undertaken by KPKT agencies and departments nationwide.
