KMJG Pre-Launch Convoy to Ignite love for the country - Perak JaPen

02/08/2024 10:44 PM

MANJUNG, Aug 2 (Bernama) -- Over 20 vehicles of various types participated in the Pre-Launch Convoy of the Kembara Merdeka Jalur Gemilang (KMJG) programme today in conjunction with the state-level National Month and Fly the Jalur Gemilang 2024 campaign.

Perak Information Department (JaPen) director Yosri Abu Mahsi said the convoy began its journey from Dataran Putra Lumut to Pantai Remis town and Beruas bus station before stopping at the Kampung Koh community centre, its final destination, to distribute Jalur Gemilang to the public.

He said the programme was organised so people could express their patriotism during the National Month celebration.

“This programme was not just about driving through the streets but encouraging the public to embrace the spirit of patriotism by flying the Jalur Gemilang,” he told Bernama in Beruas today.

Other government agencies participating in the programme were the police force, the Road Transport Department, the District and Land Office, the Manjung Municipal Council, the Fisheries Development Authority of Malaysia, the Malaysian Maritime Enforcement Agency and the Public Works Department.

Yosri said he hoped that the distribution of the Jalur Gemilang by elected representatives and government agencies could further enliven the celebrations and promote love and respect for the country.

“The most important thing is for us to nurture the spirit of independence, especially among the youth so they understand that the Jalur Gemilang is a symbol of the nation’s sovereignty, not just a piece of cloth with patterns,” he said.

Meanwhile, Pengkalan Baharu assemblyman Azman Noh said today’s programme supports the government’s agenda to build a robust, progressive and advanced nation while maintaining the unity of Malaysia’s diverse communities and religions.

KMJG 2024 Convoy will be flagged off tomorrow at Dataran Putra Lumut. It is expected to travel to Lumut, Pantai Remis, Beruas, Ayer Tawar, Simpang 5, Pekan Gurney, Kampung Koh, Sitiawan and Seri Manjung in two hours and 16 minutes.

The 67th National Day celebrations will be held in Putrajaya on Aug 31, and the Malaysia Day celebrations in Sabah on Sept 16.
