KL Tower's Merdeka Madness Campaign Offers 60 Pct Discount On Tickets

07/08/2024 04:51 PM

KUALA LUMPUR, Aug 7 (Bernama) -- Kuala Lumpur Tower (KL Tower) is offering a 60 per cent discount on tickets throughout the Merdeka Madness campaign period, which runs for 47 days starting Aug 1, in addition to various programmes in conjunction with the National Day celebrations, said its chief executive officer Nazli Saad.

He said Malaysians only need to pay RM28 (adults) and RM15 (children) to experience the Sky Deck, RM12 (adults) and RM8 (children) to go on the Observation Deck, RM8 (adults) and RM6 (children) to enter the Tower Walk 100 throughout the campaign period.

“During the first campaign last year, we only offered discounts with no additional programmes. One of the activities we have arranged this year is lighting up the tower with lights in the colours of the flags of the 14 states in Malaysia from 8 pm to midnight,” he said when appearing as a guest on Bernama Radio today.

He said KL Tower is also organising a Merdeka Poetry Recitation Competition for visitors to recite independence-themed poems and win rewards, adding that the public can also express their view of the KL Tower in the context of independence through a photography and videography competition.

Nazli said local visitors and international tourists can also play traditional games such as congkak and batu seremban at the specially designated game area.

“We also have The Sky Band to entertain visitors with patriotic songs and cultural performances through our collaboration with third parties such as shadow plays and dikir barat,” he said.

According to Nazli, visitors of the revolving restaurant, ARAS, located 282 metres above ground, will receive free entry to the Sky Deck and Observation Deck, adding that a durian festival will be held this Friday where visitors can enjoy the king of fruits in a buffet setting.

“The objective of this campaign is to attract more local visitors, as statistics show that over the 28 years of its operation, 80 per cent of those who visit KL Tower are international tourists, while only 20 per cent are locals.

“Last year, the number of local visitors increased to 40 per cent, so it can be said that the campaign is quite effective,” he added.
