Chalets In Felda Perasu Uniquely Named After Former Prime Ministers

11/08/2024 04:01 PM

GUA MUSANG,  Aug 11 (Bernama) -- In a unique approach, Wan Norazilah Wan Dollah named the eight chalets she manages in Felda Perasu here after Malaysian former prime ministers to honour the leaders’ contributions and sacrifices for the nation and the Felda community.

The eight chalets are named Tunku Abdul Rahman Putra Al-Haj, Tun Abdul Razak Hussein, Tun Hussein Onn, Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad, Tun Abdullah Ahmad Badawi, Datuk Seri Mohd Najib Abdul Razak, Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin and Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob.

The 38-year-old owner of Azilah Campsite said that the leaders’ contributions were immense, as they helped Felda settlers break free from poverty, thus advancing the economic and tourism sectors and rural development, particularly in Kelantan.

“The establishment of Felda greatly assisted villagers in obtaining land, farms and homes,” she told Bernama recently.

Wan Norazilah, the daughter of a Felda Perasu settler, said this initiative also aims to educate visitors, especially the younger generation, staying at the chalets about the struggle and contributions of past leaders to national progress.

“One of my goals is to educate visitors about the history of Felda and how challenging it was for our ancestors in building these communities,” she said, noting that she wanted to offer something unique with the only chalet located in Felda Perasu within the Nenggiri state constituency.

Having just opened Azilah Campsite three months ago and promoting it via social media, Wan Norazilah mentioned that not many people are aware of it due to the remote location of the chalets.

However, the area promises beautiful views, especially each morning and evening, as each chalet, complete with furniture and beds, is built on a hillside.

“Guests staying in my chalets, which face the hills, will witness the sunrise accompanied by morning mist and the melodious chirping of birds,” she said, adding that the atmosphere is perfect for memorable photographs.

In addition to the RM80-per-night chalets, the site offers other facilities such as a multipurpose hall, dining hall, campsite and ATV riding activities.

Regarding her inspiration for opening Azilah Campsite, Wan Norazilah said she wished to prove that settlers’ children could develop eco-tourism products in Felda land, thus attracting tourists and visitors seeking tranquillity amidst natural surroundings.

“I don’t want outsiders to think that Felda only has land and farms owned by villagers. Instead, I want Felda to be seen as a developed area with tourist attractions. It has long been my aspiration to create eco-tourism in Felda,” she said.
