Public Asked To Refer To JaPen Guidebook On Correct Way To Fly The Jalur Gemilang

KOTA BHARU, Aug 12 (Bernama) -- The Malaysian Information Department (JaPen) has asked the public to refer to its guidebook titled 'Bendera Kita Jalur Gemilang' to know the correct way to fly the Malaysian flag.

Its senior director (management), Naim Fahmi Ahmad Tajuddin said besides referring to the guidebook, the public could also refer to all JaPen's social media platforms including Facebook, Instagram, TikTok and even X.

He said the procedural guidelines for flying the Jalur Gemilang are very important to respect the national flag, thus avoiding mistakes in its installation that could touch on sensitivities.

"The public can refer to the JaPen guidebook to find out the correct way according to government regulations for the installation of the Jalur Gemilang,” he said.

"This guidebook contains information advertised on all platforms on how to fly the Jalur Gemilang,” he said.

Naim Fahmi said this to reporters after officiating the Kelantan-level National Month 2024 and Fly the Jalur Gemilang launching ceremony at the Dataran Wawasan Datuk Azis Yacub, Royal Malaysian Customs Department here today.

Also present at the event were Kelantan JaPen director Muhd ​​Nor Aswadi Md Nor and Kota Lama assemblyman Dr Hafidzah Mustakim.

Yesterday, the local media reported that police had arrested an elderly person to help investigate an incident of hoisting the Jalur Gemilang upside down at a building in Jalan Dato Sagor, Kuala Kangsar.

Meanwhile, Naim Fahmi also said that so far the response to the various JaPen-organised programmes throughout the state has been very well received and lively, including receiving the support of 1,878 MADANI Communities to enliven the National Month celebrations.

"So far, we have seen that the “1 Rumah, 1 Jalur Gemilang” (1 House, 1 Flag) initiative is seen to have a positive impact, in addition to calling on the community regardless of it being the government or private sector, as well as non-governmental organisations (NGOs) and premises to continue flying the Jalur Gemilang.

"The public is also requested not to use Jalur Gemilang that are worn or torn, since the flag symbolises the spirit of patriotism as Malaysians," he added.
