GUA MUSANG, Aug 12 (Bernama) -- All 13 requests made by villagers to upgrade the development of Kampung Limau Kasturi, here, are being scrutinised and refined by the Ministry of Rural and Regional Development.

Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi said that all the requests that the villagers put forward before the Nenggeri State Legislative Assembly by-election (PRK) needed to go through a research process first.

Ahmad Zahid who is also the Minister of Rural and Regional Development, said that their requests included the construction of a religious national high school, the installation of solar lights and telecommunication towers as well as the rehabilitation of the road network in the Nenggiri area.

"In addition, they also requested to upgrade the public multi-purpose hall and upgrade the electrical wiring in the RKT Limau Kasturi futsal court," he said when speaking at the Face-to-Face Program with the people of Kampung Limau Kasturi at the Limau Kasturi Corps Center, here, today.

Also present were UMNO Secretary-General Datuk Dr Ashraf Wajdi Dusuki, Kelantan BN Chairman Datuk Seri Ahmad Jazlan Yaakub and Barisan Nasional Elections Deputy Director for Nenggiri State Assembly Mohd Syahbuddin Hashim.

Residents in the village are among 20,259 registered voters who will vote in the Nenggiri State Assembly by-election this Saturday.

The by-election will witness a one-on-one clash between BN candidate Mohd Azmawi Fikri Abdul representing the Unity Government and PAS candidate Mohd Rizwadi Ismail representing Perikatan Nasional (PN).

The seat which has been contested since 2004 has so far gone through five elections, which saw four of them won by BN, but in the last general election it was won by Mohd Azizi Abu Naim from Bersatu, but his membership in the party was terminated on June 13, which forced the by-election to be held.

Meanwhile, Ahmad Zahid who is also BN Chairman and UMNO President said UMNO needs to regain its pride by recapturing the party's stronghold in this by-election.

"Yes, because we lost by 810 votes in (the last GE-14), so I ask the party machinery to try hard enough so that we can regain the 810 votes in this by-election.

"Abe (Ahmad Zahid) will help Awie (Mohd Azmawi Fikri) to bring progress in Nenggiri because only Awie can bring development and progress in that area," he said.

The UMNO president said Awie's request to establish TVET (Technical and Vocational Education and Training) in Gua Musang had also been discussed with Ashraf Wajdi who is also the Chairman of MARA.

"Yes, the Chairman of MARA (Ashraf Wajdi) said that there should also be GIAT MARA in Gua Musang...God willing, we will implement all these things," he said.
