MAPIM Seek Involvement Of NGOs In Assisting Patients From Palestine

19/08/2024 12:16 AM

KUALA LUMPUR, Aug 18 (Bernama) -- The Consultative Council of Islamic Organizations of Malaysia (MAPIM) suggests that non-governmental organizations (NGOs) in the country participate in providing assistance to patients from Gaza who are brought to Malaysia for treatment.

MAPIM President Mohd Azmi Abdul Hamid said affairs related to the Palestinian people should not be limited to the responsibility of the government because NGOs can also be involved so that a comprehensive effort to help the group adapt in Malaysia can be done.

“There are many matters involved in the process of managing patients and those who accompany them from Gaza. All matters related to patients, especially children who are expected to be in Malaysia for a long time.

“Therefore, the issue of accomodation, daily expenses, documentation, transportation and cost of living need to be taken into account,” he said in a statement tonight.

He said the mission organized by the Unity Government was a very proud initiative, taking into account the government's efforts to help patients from Gaza get further treatment in the country.

Previously, two Airbus A-400M aircraft belonging to the Royal Malaysian Air Force (RMAF) which brought Palestinians injured due to continuous Israeli zionist attacks safely arrived at the Subang Air Base here at about 2pm on Aug 16.

Israeli attacks since October 7 last year have killed more than 40,000 people, mostly women and children as well as injured more than 92,400 people, according to local health authorities.
