SHARP HSNKL Half Marathon Aims To Attract 15,000 Runners

SHAH ALAM, Aug 20 (Bernama) -- The SHARP HSNKL Half Marathon aims to attract 15,000 runners to participate in the second edition of the half marathon set to take place at Dataran Merdeka on Oct 20.

SHARP Electronics Malaysia Managing Director Ting Yang Chung said 4,200 participants have confirmed their participation since registration opened last week and expressed his excitement as the number of local and international runners proved that the event’s prestige was rising.

“With registration still pouring in, we are excited to see the final count as we approach the closing date on Oct 15," he told the media after the launch of the SHARP HSNKL Half Marathon here today.

There are four categories for the SHARP HSNKL Half Marathon, the challenging 21-kilometre (km), 10km, 5km and 3km categories, with a prize pool of RM50,000, including a SHARP Aquos 4K television.

In line with the National Sports Month mission, Ting said the marathon was not just a race but a movement to ignite and enhance Malaysian passion for a healthy lifestyle, and to foster  a sports-loving and health-conscious country.

He also emphasised that if more than 15,000 entries were received, SHARP was ready to increase the prize value by RM50,000, bringing the total prize value to RM100,000.

"We would like to have all Malaysian and tourists to join us in celebrating healthy lifestyle through this meaningful event," Ting added.

The SHARP HSNKL Half Marathon is organised by Pure Events in collaboration with the Federal Territory of Kuala Lumpur’s Department of Youth and Sports, Kuala Lumpur City Hall (DBKL) Department of Culture, Arts, Tourism & Sports (CATS), the Federal Territory of KL Athletics Association, the Royal Malaysian Police (PDRM) and the National Security Council (MKN).
