KUALA LUMPUR, Aug 21 (Bernama) -- The public is invited to join in the month-long photography, colouring and drawing competitions organised by the Malaysian Information Department (JaPen) since last Aug 16 in conjunction with this year’s National Day and Malaysia Day celebrations (HKHM 2024).
Its Assistant Director (Visual Communication and Design Division) Nor Shamsinar Baharom said the Klik@Merdeka 2024 photography competition aims to unearth the talent and creativity of Malaysians through the art of photography and nationalism.
"The Klik@Merdeka Photography Competition is in its fourth year and the participation so far has been encouraging and involves various races and age levels.
"The winners will be selected based on elements that match the theme of this year’s celebration, Malaysia Madani: Jiwa Merdeka', in terms of creativity, patriotism and national values," she said when appearing as a guest on the Selamat Pagi Malaysia programme on TV1 today.
Nor Shamsinar said the competition is open to Malaysian citizens aged 15 and above and the winning photographs will be placed on the MyFoto portal and exhibited at the JaPen Photo Library
Meanwhile, Nor Ezwaty Mohd Bahror, also an assistant director at JaPen’s Visual Communication and Design Division, said the MyDoodle@Merdeka Colouring and Drawing Competition aims to foster love for the country among the younger children and involves the cooperation of the Ministry of Education.
She said the doodle colouring competition is open to schoolchildren aged 7 to 12 years, while the drawing competition is for children aged 13 to 17 years.
The coloring competition involves two categories which are 7 to 9 years old for category A and 10 to 12 years old for category B.
Participants are required to colour and draw doodles without the help of teachers or parents and then upload their work on the merdeka360.my portal, she said.
The winner of the doodle drawing competition will receive RM500, winner of doodle colouring for category B (RM400) ) and RM300 (colouring for category A) along with a plaque and certificate of participation.
