Celik MADANI A Catalyst For Smarter financial Management Among Youth - GPMS

23/08/2024 06:37 PM

GEORGE TOWN, Aug 23 (Bernama) -- The Federation of Peninsular Malay Students (GPMS) has described the MADANI Youth Financial Literacy initiative as a catalyst for encouraging smarter financial management among young people.

Its vice-president, Muhammad Danial Alimin, said the initiative is a crucial step towards improving financial literacy among Malaysian youth.

“GPMS fully supports the ‘Celik MADANI: Celik Kewangan Belia MADANI’ initiative announced by  Permodalan Nasional Berhad (PNB) in conjunction with the rebranding of Amanah Saham Nasional Berhad (ASNB) yesterday.

“With an initial investment of RM50 per student, made possible through a collaboration between the government, PNB and corporate companies, GPMS believes this initiative will not only cultivate saving habits among young people but also act as a catalyst for more prudent financial management,” he said in a statement today.

Yesterday, Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim announced an initial allocation of RM50 million for the ‘Celik MADANI: Celik Kewangan Belia MADANI’ initiative, targeting one million students from public higher education institutions.

Muhammad Danial further said that the initiative is a much-needed effort to ensure that youth start planning their finances early, thus strengthening their financial stability upon graduation.

He said this effort also aligns with GPMS’ goal to empower the younger generation with essential financial knowledge and skills to enable them to make more informed and prudent financial decisions in the future.

GPMS also urged all students to take advantage of this opportunity, as it offers valuable initial investment and lays the foundation for a more secure financial future.
