LAHAD DATU, Aug 30 (Bernama) -- The family of Royal Malaysian Navy (RMN) diver, Leading Seaman Class 1 (LK) Arman San Hermansa, who died during the KD Pendekar salvage operation in the waters of Tanjung Penyusop in Johor, has accepted his death as fate.

Brought home to be buried with full military honours, Arman’s mother, Adjirah Sipat, 68, said she has lost a loving and good son.

“I am proud of my son, I accept the fact that he has passed on, he went on a mission and we all prayed for him.

“As a family we are devastated, but that is our futility as human beings, sooner or later death will visit upon us too, he was a good son, never angry, always smiling,” she said at the family home in Kampung Sapagaya, Silam today.

Recounting, Adjirah said that every time her son returned home on vacation, he would always dote on her with sweet words and said she would dearly miss his banter.

“Every day he would cosy up to me and utter, ‘I love my mama, I love my mama the most’,” she said teary-eyed.

In the meantime, she said Arman San is the backbone of the family and it was just a few days ago that he contacted her.

“He called to say he sent money to us here, there was no change in his tone, but I was a little surprised because he suddenly sent greetings to all his sisters.

“I asked him, ‘are you dreaming, you never send greetings to them’ but he replied ‘no mom, I miss my sisters, that’s all,” said Adjirah, adding that Arman San is the youngest of 10 siblings.

Adjirah expressed her gratitude to the Royal Malaysian Navy (RMN) responsible for the repatriation of her son’s remains from Kota Tinggi for the burial at the Kampung Terusan Muslim Cemetery.

Arman San, 28, who served as a mine clearance diver from the Naval Diving and Mine Warfare Headquarters drowned in the salvage operation of the sunken KD Pendekar three days ago.

On Aug 25, KD Pendekar sank during an operational cruise in the waters of Tanjung Penyusop after it sprang a leak after hitting an unknown underwater object.
