KANGAR, Sept 10 (Bernama) -- The Raja of Perlis Tuanku Syed Sirajuddin Jamalullail granted an audience to Uzbekistan Ambassador to Malaysia Karomiddin Gadoev here yesterday afternoon.
Istana Arau, in a statement today, said Karomiddin was accompanied by the Trade and Economic Counselor of the Uzbekistan Embassy in Kuala Lumpur, Mutalibjon Khojimurotov.
It said that the envoy expressed support for fostering mutually beneficial cooperation between Perlis and the republic, particularly in the economic sector.
“Karomiddin also hopes for increased collaboration between Perlis and Uzbekistan in the education sector through Universiti Malaysia Perlis and Kolej Universiti Islam Perlis, as well as in the Islamic tourism industry,” the statement read.
Also present at the audience was Perlis Regent Tuanku Syed Faizuddin Putra Jamalullail.
For the record, Tuanku Syed Sirajuddin, during his tenure as the 12th Yang di-Pertuan Agong of Malaysia, together with Tuanku Tengku Fauziah Almarhum Tengku Abdul Rashid, made a state visit to Uzbekistan in 2003.
