KUALA LUMPUR, Sept 12 (Bernama) -- The 24K Huffaz Gathering, which will be held this Saturday at the Federal Territory Mosque in Kuala Lumpur, is set to showcase a unique feature with the involvement of TVET (Technical and Vocational Education and Training) Tahfiz centres.
President of the National Coalition of Tahfiz Al-Quran Institutions (Pinta) and chairman of Pinta Foundation’s Board of Trustees, Mohd Zahid Mahmood, said the event aimed to gather 24,000 huffaz from across the country, an increase from last year’s 23,000.
The event, scheduled to run from 11 am to 10 pm, will be officiated by Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim.
"We aim to advocate for, strengthen, and elevate all Tahfiz institutions in the country, bringing them to both national and international prominence," he said during an interview on Bernama TV's ‘Ruang Bicara’ programme here today.
Meanwhile, Pinta secretary-general Mohd Edrus Ab Rahman said the Nursery Pre-Tahfiz programme by the Department of Community Development (KEMAS), launched this year, was expected to help the government achieve its goal of producing 125,000 professional huffaz by 2050.
"Through this programme, children aged four and above will be able to memorise Juz Amma, and with around 6,000 students currently involved, this number is expected to grow significantly over the next 26 years, making it easier to achieve the target," he said.
This gathering is a continuation of last year’s 23K Huffaz Gathering.
