MIRI, Sept 28 (Bernama) -- The Energy Transition and Water Transformation Ministry (PETRA) is expecting visitors to the 2024 MADANI Rakyat Sarawakku Sayang programme at the grounds of Boulevard Mall here to exceed the target of 10,000 visitors.
Its secretary-general, Datuk Mad Zaidi Mohd Karli said that he was convinced that the target can be achieved based on the number of visitors to the programme so far.
“Based on the information I’ve received, we had about 47,000 visitors alone yesterday. Today is Saturday and I’m convinced that there will be more visitors,” he told Bernama during an exclusive interview at the PETRA Pavilion at the programme today, adding most visitors were attracted to the promotion of services offerred by the Federal and Sarawak governments.
“I think the services offered by the Sarawak government are among the most interesting, as they are something other than what has been offered in other programmmes in the Peninsula. In Sarawak, it’s an advantage as we have services specially for Sarawakians,” he said.
Several visitors also shared their experiences of the programme with Bernama, and expressed their satisfaction about the services and activities.
A visitor, Karambir Singh said that the programme was the biggest government service promotion held in Miri town since the last few years.
“The programme is really beneficial and informative. I myself changed a new identification card here. The service provided is very good, efficient and I hope that those who haven’t come to the programme should come because there are many things they can benefit from,” he said.
Rosman Ujang, 39, who is from Bintulu, located 200 kilometres from Miri, said the three day period of the programme was not enough for him to visit all the booths.
“Maybe next time, the organiser can consider holding it for a longer period so that more people can benefit from it,” he said.
The 2024 MADANI Rakyat Sarawakku Sayang programme involves the services of all ministries at the federal and state level and is aimed at introducing the various government initiatives to the people.
The programme offers over 200 government services directly to the public, with a focus on public welfare activities, unity agenda, Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) and a career carnival.
