Crowds Gather For KEDA's Jualan Kasih MADANI Programme

30/09/2024 04:13 PM

SIK, Sept 30 (Bernama) -- About 2,000 visitors availed themselves of essential items at a 30 per cent discount off market prices during the the Kedah Regional Development Authority’s (KEDA) Jualan Kasih MADANI programme 2024, held today at the KEDA Zone 4 Office.

KEDA general Manager Ismasuhaimi Shariff said the programme, held in collaboration with the Kedah Federal Agricultural Marketing Authority (FAMA), is aimed at assisting those affected by the current economic uncertainty.

“People started queuing as early as 8 am. Within three hours, all essential items like rice, chicken, eggs, sugar, and cooking oil were sold out.

“Our combo sales, (featuring chicken, cooking oil, and sugar), are 35 per cent cheaper. We have 200 packs available at RM15, and during the ‘happy hour’, we will sell 100 packs of the same items for just RM10,” he told reporters after officiating the programme near here.

Ismasuhaimi said tht this was the second time the sales programme had been held and that two more series were set to take place before the end of the year.

“A total of RM150,000 has been allocated by KEDA to ensure the success of this programme this year. We are offering 53 different types of goods.

“This programme can also support entrepreneurs and, at the same time, help to alleviate the cost of living of residents in the surrounding area,” he said.

Meanwhile, Daud Md Amin, 67, stated that he found out about the programme from a neighbour and arrived with his wife around 10 am.

“I managed to buy five kilogrammes of rice, a ‘happy hour’ pack, and a few other items.

“Meat is available for RM26 per kilogramme. It’s much cheaper than what I find in stores, and I hope we can see more sales programmes like this in the future,” he said.

Che Embun Musa, 75, said that she travelled from Kuala Ketil with her daughter to purchase goods at discounted prices during the sales programme.

“At first, I came just to have a look, but in the end, I bought many items because the prices were too good to resist,” she said.
