N. Sembilan Hopes Federal Govt Will Approve Plan To Create Central Industrial Corridor

30/09/2024 05:33 PM

SEREMBAN, Sept 30 (Bernama) -- The Negeri Sembilan government hopes that the federal government can approve the plan to create the Central Industrial Corridor involving Kuala Lumpur, Selangor, Melaka and Negeri Sembilan, with an expected allocation of RM700 billion.

Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Aminuddin Harun said the construction of the corridor is important for economic development growth covering 45 per cent of the gross domestic product (GDP), and it is believed that it will continue to increase above that level thus also benefitting the states involved.

“It is hoped that the RM700 billion for the provision of infrastructure for the four states will be expedited for more sustainable economic growth. The main leaders of these four states have also agreed that the Central Industrial Corridor should be implemented immediately,” he told reporters at the 'Sejahtera Waghih Nogori' Town Hall programme with the Negeri Sembilan Menteri Besar here today.

“If we work hard, I am confident we will surely exceed that level, and will get a larger amount, even more than the existing one.”

He said the construction of the corridor will not only increase the GDP, but will create many job opportunities, especially for local residents, thereby improving their income and living standards.

Meanwhile, Aminuddin, who is also the state assemblyman for Port Dickson, hoped that the issue involving the installation up of tents along the Telok Kemang beach will be resolved by the end of the year. He said discussions among the traders and local authorities, councilors and people's representatives were ongoing.

“In Port Dickson, we have many beaches and not just in Telok Kemang…the other beaches do not have the issue of installation of tents because we control everything, only in Telok Kemang, so it is not fair if only because of this one (Teluk Kemang) it affects tourism. This I do not agree.”

“We are aware of this matter. From the beginning, I am the administrator of the Negeri Sembilan government. This matter is not easy…we have to respect the local people because they have been there for a long time, this is our way and they also are earning a living," he also said.

Aminuddin added that he is confident that there will be changes that will be implemented by next year, to ensure the harmony among all parties.
