08/10/2024 08:35 PM

KUALA LUMPUR, Oct 8 (Bernama) -- Lembaga Tabung Haji (TH) is continuing its efforts to preserve the empowerment and development of leadership character among students through the second series of the TH Young Leadership Series, involving 90 students from Melaka, Negeri Sembilan and Johor.

TH Group managing director and chief executive officer Syed Hamadah Syed Othman said the programme was implemented following the success of the first series in February, which was seen to have achieved its objective of helping to raise the leadership ability and confidence of students, especially from the rural communities.

"Besides helping to nurture the potential of students who will continue the legacy of today's leaders, TH also desires to share more accurate information regarding TH's background and provide a clearer picture of the haj operations that we carry out every year.

"We believe the students can act as ambassadors for TH and disseminate this information to the public and community so that they can have a clearer and more accurate understanding of the objectives of establishing TH and the mandate given to TH, InsyaAllah,” he said in a statement today.

The three-day programme, which began on Sunday (Oct 6) at Menara TH, brings together student leaders aged 15 and 16 from 30 rural schools selected in collaboration with the Education Ministry and the state education departments.

Through the programme, TH featured corporate figures, namely TH Board member Datuk Nik Mohd Hasyudeen Yusoff, who is also a non-independent and non-executive director of Bank Islam Malaysia Bhd and Petron Malaysia Refining & Marketing Berhad.

"Nik Mohd Hasyudeen shared his experience and success in business and the public sector in Malaysia right up to the ASEAN region. TH also brought a preacher famous among the younger generation, Ustaz Rahmad Mohd Sofyan (PU Rahmat) to deliver motivational talks for for strengthening the spiritual character of the participants,” he said.

Syed Hamadah said various group training activities were also carried out to train a variety of skills involving leadership, communication, confidence and teamwork, in addition to all the students being taken to visit the TH Haj Operations Centre and the Movenpick Convention Centre in Sepang for a comprehensive understanding of Malaysia's haj operations.

"Hopefully this programme can help today's younger generation to excel in academics and also have the integrity of identity and culture as well as high morals.

"It is also hoped that it can boost their spirit and make these children agents of change in their families and communities, further contributing to religion, race and country one day,” he said.
