KUALA LUMPUR, Oct 9 (Bernama) -- All eyes today are on Malaysia’s contestant, Putri Aminah Mohd Hanif, as the 64th International Quran Recitation and Memorisation Assembly (MTHQA) enters its final day for the memorisation category.
Putri Aminah, who hails from Kelantan, presented her memorisation this morning alongside eight other participants on the fifth day of MTHQA at the World Trade Centre Kuala Lumpur (WTCKL).
The Department of Islamic Development Malaysia (Jakim), in a post on Facebook, said other memorisers were Ilyas Hajri from Morocco, Harun Hassan Abdi (Sweden), Samane Musave (Afghanistan), Mubarak Ali (Ghana), Ismatulla Saburov (Kyrgyzstan), Ayse Humeyra Kayis (Turkiye), Oubaydoullah Baubacar Ango (Niger) and Bokoum Mamadou Cire (Guinea).
Later tonight, starting at 8.45 pm, eight contestants are set to deliver their recitations, namely male reciters Ahmed Hasic (Austria), Ali Musaed A Alumari (Qatar), Habkee Kadamung (Thailand), Egas Nunes Monteiro (Timor-Leste), Saadu M. Osman Jallow (Gambia) and Amrah Eminov (Azerbaijan), as well as female reciters Syamimi Asshira Zulfan (Indonesia) and Haseefah Mohamed Numan (Sri Lanka).
The recitation category will continue until Friday, and as of yesterday, 29 contestants have presented their recitations.
Meanwhile, the World Quran Symposium 2024, themed ‘Ummatic Transformation Through the Miracles of the Quran,’ will take place tomorrow at WTCKL in conjunction with the MTHQA.
Grand Mosque Imam As-Syaikh Maher bin Hamad Al-Mu’aiqly, as the guest of honour, is set to deliver his keynote address at the symposium.
The 64th MTHQA, themed ‘Al-Falah Pemacu Malaysia MADANI,’ was officiated by Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim and involved 92 participants from 71 countries, comprising 53 recitation and 39 memorisation contestants.
His Majesty Sultan Ibrahim, the King of Malaysia, and Her Majesty Raja Zarith Sofiah, the Queen of Malaysia, will grace the prize presentation ceremony on Oct 12.
