Al-Quran Provides Comprehensive Framework For Governance, Social Harmony - DPM Fadillah

10/10/2024 03:46 PM

KUALA LUMPUR, Oct 10 (Bernama) -- The Al-Quran timeless and divine wisdom must remain the beacon for leaders to create comprehensive framework for governance, personal conduct and social harmony, said Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Fadillah Yusof.

He said the Al-Quran, as the divine guidance revealed to humanity, offers not just spiritual enlightenment but also provides timeless principles that transcend the boundaries of time and culture, guiding towards ethical conduct, justice, compassion, and continuous striving for excellence in all spheres of life.

“Leaders entrusted with the responsibility to serve the people and steer the nation forward must draw inspiration from the Quranic teachings to guide their actions and decisions,” he said at the opening ceremony of the World Quran Symposium 2024 in conjunction with 64th International Quran Recitation and Memorisation Assembly at the World Trade Centre Kuala Lumpur today.

Also present was Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department (Religious Affairs) Datuk Dr Mohd Na’im Mokhtar.

Fadillah further said that the concept of Malaysia MADANI introduced by the government, aimed at shaping the country’s socio-economic and political landscape, was made in essence of every concept derived from the Al-Quran and Sunnah.

“By integrating these Quranic teachings into organisational management practices, leaders can cultivate environments that promote ethical conduct, inclusive decision-making, innovation and community engagement.

“Overall, Malaysia MADANI represents a comprehensive approach to governance and development that seeks to address both immediate and long-term challenges facing Malaysia, aiming to create a more equitable, prosperous, and harmonious society,” he said.

Fadillah said the principles not only contribute to organisational success but also foster a sense of civic responsibility and ethical leadership, aligning with contemporary perspectives on sustainable and socially responsible business practices.

“Ethical conduct lies at the core of Quranic teachings, which include upholding integrity, honesty and transparency in governance, fostering trust among our citizens and strengthening the foundation of our institutions.

“Justice is one of the main tenets of the Al-Quran, which instructs us to “stand firm for justice, as witnesses for Allah, even if it be against yourselves or parents and relatives (Al-Quran 4:135),” he said.

The deputy prime minister believed that by adhering to the principles of ethical conduct, justice, compassion, and continuous striving for excellence, a prosperous and harmonious nation where every citizen has the opportunity to thrive can be built.

He also urged the integration of Al-Quran teachings into governance practices, policies and personal lives.

“By doing so, we can uphold the noble values enshrined in our faith and fulfil our duty to lead our nation towards a brighter and more prosperous future,” he said.
