KUALA LUMPUR, Oct 11 (Bernama) -- The Malaysian Green Technology and Climate Change Corporation (MGTC) has forged several strategic partnerships focusing specifically on the expansion of energy management standards and solar energy projects.

These partnerships were formed on the final day of the 15th edition of the International Greentech and Eco Products Exhibition and Conference Malaysia (IGEM) held at the Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre (KLCC) here today.

In a statement, MGTC informed that the corporation penned an agreement with TNB Labs Sdn Bhd through a memorandum of understanding (MoU) to implement the Energy Management Gold Standard (EMGS) certification assessment under the ASEAN Energy Management Scheme (AEMAS) and training programmes related to energy management, efficiency and industry standards.

The statement added that the collaboration reinforces both parties' commitment to promoting sustainable energy practices and enhancing Malaysia’s role in regional and global energy management efforts.

“Meanwhile, through a memorandum of collaboration, MGTC and MyCES Sdn Bhd will focus on implementing energy management efforts across Malaysia by adopting EMGS and digitalised technology for energy management and facility maintenance, driving smarter energy use, reducing waste and improving operational efficiencies across various sectors,” the statement read.

In addition, MGTC’s subsidiary, Greentech Catalyst Sdn Bhd is partnering with Ocean Grapes Technology Co Ltd to push the boundaries of solar energy development in Malaysia.

The statement noted that the collaboration will focus on innovative solar energy systems, with plans to potentially roll out a 4.5-gigawatt (GW) floating solar farm that will provide clean energy to third-party stakeholders, contributing to Malaysia’s renewable energy future.

MGTC group chief executive officer, Shamsul Bahar Mohd Noor, was quoted in the statement as saying: “We are thrilled about the partnerships we have initiated to set the nation on a new path of sustainability, where advanced technologies and strategic partnerships drive lasting impact.

“We will ensure all the initiatives forged go beyond the convention centre to drive economic growth and environmental stewardship in line with this year’s theme, ‘Race Towards Net Zero: Regional Leadership for Climate Urgency’,” he said.
