KOTA KINABALU, Oct 12 (Bernama) -- Some 400,000 people are expected to visit the three-day 2024 MADANI Rakyat Sayangi Sabah programme starting next Friday (Oct 18), said Domestic Trade and Cost of Living Minister Datuk Armizan Mohd Ali.

He said the programme themed "Improving Consumer Well-being" will be held at the Likas Sports Complex here and is scheduled to be officiated by Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim at 2.30 pm on Oct 19.

He said the Sabah Zone which is the sixth zone, completes this year's MADANI Rakyat programme after the Central Zone in Selangor, the Northern Zone in Penang, the Eastern Zone in Pahang, the Southern Zone in Johor, and the Sarawak Zone.

"The people in Sabah are invited to come. Two service components are offered through this programme to show the success of the MADANI Government in meeting the well-being of the people, namely "People's Touchpoint Services" and "People's Wellbeing Initiative".

"Through this approach, various services and initiatives launched by the government can be delivered directly to the people through services offered by ministries, departments, as well as federal and state agencies," he told reporters after inspecting the preparations for the programme here today.

Armizan said for the Sabah Zone, the implementation of the programme involves the strategic collaboration of the Ministry of Domestic Trade and Cost of Living (KPDN) as the lead ministry as well as the Sabah Government and the Performance Acceleration and Coordination Unit (PACU) of the Prime Minister's Department (JPM).

He said a total of eight focus programmes were prepared, namely People's Well-being implemented by JPM’s Implementation Coordination Unit (ICU), Unity Agenda (Ministry of National Unity), TVET and Career Carnival (Ministry of Human Resources), State Government Services (Sabah government).

In addition to the Cost of Living (KPDN), Agriculture and Food Security (Ministry of Agriculture and Food Security), Health Services (Ministry of Health), STEM and AI implemented by the Ministry of Science, Technology and Innovation, the Ministry of Education and the Ministry Higher Education.

"We are preparing the appropriate amount of stalls because this programme has received a very encouraging response from exhibitors as well as local traders such as food trucks and so on. We will determine the number later," he said.
