KANGAR, Oct 16 (Bernama) -- The Federal Agricultural Marketing Authority (FAMA) of Perlis is expanding its Agro MADANI Sales to areas near the Malaysia-Thailand border at Padang Besar.
Perlis FAMA director Mohd Anzara Azizan said in a statement today that this was in response to the call by Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim for FAMA to implement such economic activities in states bordering Thailand following the strengthening of the Malaysian Ringgit (RM) against the Thai Baht.
Mohd Anzara said it was for that purpose that they are organising the Agro MADANI Sales at two locations near Padang Besar, namely at Masjid Salahuddin Al-Ayubi today and at Masjid Nurul Husna Wang Kelian on Saturday (Oct 19).
Meanwhile, he said the Agro MADANI Sales in Perlis recorded RM2,926,297.70 in sales from the 217 times the sales were held in the state from January until today/
"This included the involvement of 1,667 entrepreneurs and an estimated 62,600 Perlis folks benefited from the implementation of the Agro MADANI Sales, with the amount saved through the implementation of the Agro MADANI Sales at RM716,994.06,” he said.
