PKPS, HMA Agro Industries Collaborate To Supply Over 8,000 Tonnes Of Frozen Meat Monthly

KUALA LUMPUR, Oct 18 (Bernama) -- The Selangor Agricultural Development Corporation (PKPS) today entered into a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with HMA Agro Industries Limited, one of India’s leading exporters of frozen meat products, to enhance Selangor’s agricultural supply chain and ensure the availability of high-quality, affordable food for the state’s residents.

The agreement with HMA Agro Industries will see the supply of 8,400 tonnes of frozen meat per month, valued at RM135 million, for distribution across Selangor, contributing to a consistent and reliable source of high-quality meat products

Selangor Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Amirudin Shari when delivering his speech at the signing ceremony said the collaboration underscores the Selangor Government’s commitment to attracting high-quality investments into the agro-food sector.

“We are not only strengthening the supply chain system but also enhancing food security and affordability. This collaboration will directly benefit the people of Selangor, especially those in need, by reducing costs and improving access to essential goods,” he said when witnessing the signing ceremony held between PKPS group chief executive officer Datuk Dr Mohamad Khairil Mohamad Razi and Gulzeb Ahmad, Director of India’s HMA Group at the Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre (KLCC) today.

Amirudin also highlighted the importance of reducing import dependency and ensuring cost control for the benefit of the B40 group, a demographic that will directly benefit from this initiative.

In conjunction with the MoU signing, PKPS also launched the Ehsan PKPS Brand Ambassador, aimed at elevating the credibility and reach of the Ehsan brand, which is central to PKPS’s efforts to enhance local food security through affordable products.

Dr Mohamad Khairil expressed his enthusiasm for the collaboration and the future of the Ehsan brand.

“The introduction of a brand ambassador will amplify our efforts to make Ehsan a trusted household name in Selangor. We are confident that through collaborations like this, we will continue to expand and strengthen the agricultural ecosystem in Selangor,” he said.

Dr Mohamad Khairil added that the character 'Ehsan' from the popular animated series Upin & Ipin was chosen as the brand ambassador for Ehsan PKPS products.

“The character Ehsan from the animated series Upin & Ipin was chosen as the ambassador for Ehsan PKPS products because both are beloved by the people — Ehsan, a choice close to the hearts of the rakyat,” he said.
