KUALA LUMPUR, Oct 18 (Bernama) -- The government has allocated RM1.3 billion to empower G1-G4 contractors, specifically to provide opportunities for this group to undertake small and medium-sized projects such as road construction, as well as the repair and maintenance of public infrastructure.

Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim, when tabling the MADANI Budget 2025 today, said that at the same time, RM200 million has been allocated for the CAKNA 2 Scheme to support the cash flow of G1-G4 contractors in completing small-scale government projects valued at up to RM1.5 million.

"Next year, RM800 million in financing will be available under the Majlis Amanah Rakyat (MARA) and Perbadanan Usahawan Nasional Bhd (PUNB) to support more Bumiputera entrepreneurs, including local artists," he said.

To further empower Bumiputera entrepreneurs, he said the centralisation of Pelaburan Hartanah Berhad (PHB) and Ekuinas under the Bumiputera Investment Foundation is aimed at supporting Bumiputera businesses throughout their business cycles.

For example, Ekuinas will invest in mid-sized companies, and once successful, these companies will be listed and receive appropriate investments from Permodalan Nasional Bhd (PNB), he added.

He emphasised that the launch of the Bumiputera Economic Transformation Plan reflects a commitment to new direction and policy.

"No longer confined to the old ways of managing agencies with poor governance, using agencies to enrich close associates, while forgetting the main agenda of uplifting the status and dignity of the Bumiputera," he said.

Meanwhile, to support human capital, and social and welfare development of the Indian community, RM130 million has been specifically allocated to implement various programmes, including financing for the community’s businesses.
