KUALA LUMPUR, Oct 22 (Bernama) -- The Youth and Sports Ministry (KBS) is drawing up an action plan to implement the strategies and initiatives contained in the MADANI Youth Development Model 2030 (MPBM2030).
KBS, in a written response on the Parliament website, said the process of drawing up the action plan is at the Technical Working Group discussion stage, involving the ministry and agencies, state governments, the media, educational institutions, research bodies, non-governmental organisations, youth movements and corporate entities.
"The action plan is expected to be ready in the first quarter of 2025 and its implementation will take into account current issues and challenges faced by youth, including unemployment, job opportunities, economy, education, mental health and the digital divide.
"The implementation of the action plan’s strategies and initiatives will also involve those implemented by the respective government ministries and agencies through the whole-of-government approach, based on their roles in developing and empowering youth,” it added.
It said this in response to the question from Datuk Seri Hishammuddin Tun Hussein (BN-Sembrong), who asked about the latest regarding the implementation of MPBM2030, specifically in tackling current youth problems, such as youth home ownership, poverty rate, youth income, schooling and mental health.
KBS also said that youth problems were also cross-ministerial and agency issues, where many initiatives benefited youth under the supervision of the ministry and agency.
To facilitate the coordination of youth-related issues and initiatives, KBS, through the Youth Development Cabinet Committee (JKPB) meeting, chaired by Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi, would hold meetings at least twice a year.
"Besides coordination, the meeting, which involves all Cabinet ministers, would also discuss actions that can be jointly implemented to improve the quality of life among the youth,” it said.
