KOTA BHARU, Nov 1 (Bernama) -- The firefighting operation at the recycling collection site on Jalan Padang Tembak, Pengkalan Chepa Industrial Area, which caught fire on Oct 27, ended at 5.04 pm today.
Pengkalan Chepa Fire and Rescue Station chief Alam Nasut Ilias said that starting tonight the site owner would continue to monitor the area.
"If there is still smoke coming from the affected area, they can contact the fire department for further action. I have also been informed that the company involved will clean the area and carry out other necessary tasks tomorrow," she told Bernama.
Alam Nasut explained that they had separated burnt materials using excavators to prevent the fire from spreading if it were to reignite.
"The Fire Department's Forensic Unit has also conducted an investigation into the incident, and the cause of the fire has yet to be determined," she added.
