SERDANG, Nov 2 (Bernama) -- A total of 473 graduates from Universiti Putra Malaysia Bintulu Campus (UPMKB) were celebrated today in the first session of the university’s 48th convocation ceremony, held over two days at the Bintulu campus.
UPM pro-chancellor Tan Sri Peter Chin Fah Kui presented Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) degrees to two recipients, Master’s degrees to nine, Bachelor’s degrees to 122, and various diplomas to 340 recipients throughout the ceremony.
In a statement today, UPM announced that Chin also presented university-level awards, including the Live Animals Medical Centre Prize for Best Bachelor’s Graduate, sponsored by the Live Animals Medical Centre, to Adika Rahmat Kadondoig who graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Bioindustry with Honours.
Chin also awarded the Yvonne Sing Sai Hoi Prize for Best Diploma Graduate, sponsored by Puan Yvonne Sing Sai Hoi, to Vennesa Anne Anak Brown who received the Diploma in Animal Health and Husbandry.
The Tok Nan Chair Scholarship recipients included Diploma in Human Development graduates Benedick Adam Anak Jawan, Farhana Nazwa Fakurrudin, and Zetty Azreen Zaini, as well as Masters in Human Development graduate Mohamad Syukri Mohamad Adnan.
In the statement, UPM highlighted that the scholarship is part of the Tok Nan Chair initiative, a collaboration between UPMKB and Sarawak’s Ministry of Tourism, Creative Industry, and Performing Arts to support local students in Social Sciences and Humanities studies.
Meanwhile, UPM’s 48th Convocation Agriculture Expo and Fest (Session 1) at UPMKB is ongoing until tomorrow from 8 am to 11 pm at the Dewan Sri Kenyalang Expo Grounds.
The event features a variety of activities and vendor booths, including sales of saplings, vegetables, fruit seedlings, flowers, potting soil, compost, and livestock products like beef, venison, fish, quail, rabbits, and other agricultural items.
