BUKIT MERTAJAM, Nov 4 (Bernama) -- The Generasi Ada Idea (GEN-AI) Carnival, held last Saturday, not only provided visitors with information and opportunity to participate in various activities, but also allowed entrepreneurs to showcase their products.
Fazill Akashah Othman, 52, an entrepreneur from the Penang National Information Dissemination Centre (NADI), who also manages Jeruk Mutiara, said he participated in the carnival at the Gravitas parking lot, Jalan Baru Prai, to introduce more than 11 pickled fruit products from the company.
Fazill Akashah said Jeruk Mutiara has its own factory in Balik Pulau, near here, to process the honey pickles.
He said the pickle products were conceived after attending various training courses, including online business, which had helped him to increase his income and expand his market nationwide through a stockist system.
“Our fruit pickles are made with a traditional recipe without preservatives. Our recipe only uses white sugar, apple cider vinegar and honey, and it has received halal certification from the Department of Islamic Development Malaysia (JAKIM),” he told Bernama at the GEN-AI Carnival.
Fazill Akashah said he brought his pickle products to the GEN-AI Carnival to introduce his company’s products to the public and at the same time, find stockists interested in partnering with his company to sell his brand of pickles at their locations.
He said Jeruk Mutiara generates monthly sales of around RM35,000 to RM40,000 and processes eight to nine tonnes of fruit each month into pickles.
Meanwhile, visitors said that the GEN-AI Carnival, organised by the Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission (MCMC), was highly engaging as it offered various activities for the public, especially youths.
Nurul Husna Syukran, 19, a student of the Seberang Perai Polytechnic, said she and her friends did not miss the chance to attend the carnival to participate in the activities.
“I joined a casual talk with ‘Klik Dengan Bijak’ and gained a lot of information about cybersecurity, including the dangers of fake news on social media, and how to be more digitally proficient and media savvy,” she said.
For M. Vihaan, 21, he said he learned about the carnival through social media and was glad to attend as he gained new knowledge, especially in artificial intelligence (AI).
Apart from sales booths, the GEN-AI Carnival also featured sharing sessions by NADI, a career carnival, casual talks with artists and influencers, and a concert.
The carnival was officiated by Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim, and the launch was followed by the “Meet Anwar” session, where the PM interacted with a group of youths.
