KESUMA, Huawei To Establish World-Class, High-Tech TVET Institutions Across M'sia

PUTRAJAYA, Nov 7 (Bernama) -- The Ministry of Human Resources (KESUMA) will join forces with Huawei to establish Smart Campuses which utilise 5G networks and Wi-Fi 7 technology, for Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) institutions under the ministry across the country.

Minister Steven Sim Chee Keong said that this collaboration is one of the outcomes of the meeting between Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim and Huawei's top management, including its chairman Liang Hua, in Beijing today.

He said that KESUMA and Huawei will also collaborate to establish the Huawei Learning Centre, focusing on 5G technology, artificial intelligence (AI), telecommunications, and more courses.

Sim said that the collaboration with KESUMA's Industrial Training Institutes (ILP) to establish the learning centre also aligns with its public skills training institutions' 'Anak Angkat' programme announced during the recent tabling of Budget 2025.

"KESUMA will work closely with Huawei to ensure that the initiatives discussed can be implemented as soon as possible," he said in a statement today.

Sim said that the joint effort is part of KESUMA's initiatives to elevate the skills training sector in Malaysia by creating world-class, high-tech TVET institutions and preparing Malaysians to join the 21st-century economy with skills in AI, digitalisation, and the green economy.

He said the Prime Minister also emphasised the efforts to bridge the digital divide and improve skills training for Malaysians.

Anwar led the Malaysian delegation to China for a four-day visit starting Nov 4. The working visit began in Shanghai and concluded in Beijing today.
