KUALA LUMPUR, Nov 11 (Bernama) -- Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim extended Malaysia’s deepest appreciation to Saudi Arabia for its leadership in convening the Extraordinary Arab-Islamic Summit today.
Anwar, in his Facebook posting, said that the summit is crucial to urgently address the escalating violence and brutal attacks by the Zionist regime on Palestinians and Lebanese.
“Alhamdulillah, I have arrived in Riyadh at the invitation of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, Kingdom of Saudi Arabia for the Extraordinary Arab-Islamic Summit.
“Let us unite in our resolve to stand against oppression and pray that our collective efforts bring justice and peace to the oppressed, Insya-Allah,” he posted.
Anwar arrived in Riyadh from Cairo, Egypt.
Upon his arrival at the King Khalid International Airport, Riyadh, the Prime Minister received a warm welcome from the Deputy Governor of Riyadh Region, Prince Mohammed bin Abdulrahman bin Abdulaziz, and the Riyadh Region Mayor, Prince Dr Faisal bin Abdulaziz bin Ayyaf, as well as a guard of honour.
The Prime Minister is scheduled to return to Cairo to continue a series of pre-planned engagements with Malaysian and Egyptian delegations.
In another posting, the Prime Minister said that before heading to Riyadh, he and his delegation attended a roundtable with about 60 industry leaders from Egypt and a Malaysian business delegation.
Anwar, who is also the Finance Minister, said the discussions focused on investment opportunities in Malaysia and explored potential business partnerships.
“Key topics included the oil palm industry, automotive, pharmaceuticals, semiconductors, the digital sector, and renewable energy,” he said.
According to Anwar, the discussion was also attended by Egypt’s Minister of Investment and Foreign Trade, Hassan El Khatib.
“Insya-Allah, based on the clear MADANI government policies and Malaysia’s strong economic indicators, along with our recognition as a key hub for semiconductors and green energy in Southeast Asia, we can drive growth to a global level,” he added.
