KUALA LUMPUR, Nov 15 (Bernama) -- The countdown to China's 15th National Games (NG), the 12th National Games for Persons with Disabilities, and the ninth National Special Olympic Games has officially begun, with joint events held across Guangdong, Hong Kong SAR, and Macao SAR on Nov 9.

The highly anticipated sports events, set for November and December 2025, will take place across the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area (GBA), marking a major milestone in China's sporting calendar.

As preparations ramp up, the organising committee of the 15th NG, in a statement, said the three regions are committed to delivering an event that is "green, inclusive, open, and clean," while ensuring it is "simple, safe, and spectacular".

The event featured the unveiling of the official slogans, emblems, and mascots for the games. The 15th NG will carry the slogan "Passionate National Games, Vibrant Greater Bay Area," which embodies the Olympic values as well as Chinese cultural and sporting spirit while deeply aligning with the strategic positioning of the GBA.

The mascots for these sporting events are inspired by the Chinese white dolphin, a national first-class protected wildlife species. Named Xiyangyang and Lerongrong, the duo symbolise joy, harmony, and unity.

On the other hand, the emblem, designed around the theme of "prosperity and inclusiveness", draws inspiration from the moment a firework bursts. The visually striking creation features three intertwining petals that rotate to form a harmonious pattern.

Drawing on the distinct shapes and hues of flowers, the designers have carefully arranged the petals in a spiral that converges at the centre, symbolising the harmonious integration and boundless vitality of the GBA. It also represents the region's deep connection with the motherland and its expanding global influence.
