15/11/2024 05:30 PM

SHAH ALAM, Nov 15 (Bernama) -- The First Selangor Plan (RS-1), which recorded various achievements, especially in the growth of its Gross Domestic Product (GDP), will be continued under the Second Selangor Plan (RS-2) with a preliminary allocation of RM3.5 million.

Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Amirudin Shari said RS-2 will be from 2026 to 2030, using the RS-1 implementation framework and methods.

He said the amount allocated was for preparing RS-2 documents, which involved research, engagement sessions, workshops, promotions and documentation.

"The estimated time frame for the development of RS-2 is 15 months from January 2025 until its tabling at the State Assembly, which is scheduled around February 2026,” he said when tabling the 2025 Selangor Budget at the Selangor State Assembly here today.

Amirudin said the development of RS-2 would be coordinated with the 13th Malaysia Plan (13MP) to ensure its planning achieves the objectives and meets the requirements at the formulation and implementation stages.

He said Selangor recorded an average growth in GDP of 7.43 per cent, exceeding the average GPD growth target for the 2021-2025 period that was set under RS-1, which is between 6.5 per cent and 7.0 per cent for the 2021-2023 period.

"Selangor also recorded a new achievement by contributing 25.9 per cent to the GDP for 2023, creating history with the value of economic activity totalling RM406.1 billion, thus becoming the first state to have economic activity exceeding the value of RM400 billion,” he said.

Themed 'Selangor Dinamik: Cita Sempurna Malaysia MADANI' (Dynamic Selangor: Perfect Aspirations of MADANI Malaysia), the 2025 Selangor Budget allocates a total of RM3 billion to carry out operating expenses and continue the development of the state next year.
