18/11/2024 09:21 AM

KUCHING, Nov 18 (Bernama) -- Sarawak became the last stop for the Shape Your Future #FitFinances 2024 programme, an educational initiative on financial management and the importance of Takaful protection organised by the Malaysian Takaful Association (MTA) in collaboration with the Credit Counselling and Debt Management Agency (AKPK).

In a statement today, MTA said the programme’s final event for this year was held at Pusat Latihan Kenegaraan Sampadi in Lundu, near here, involving 150 students from vocational colleges throughout Sarawak.

The programme's closing ceremony was officiated by Deputy Permanent Secretary of the Sarawak Ministry of Education, Innovation, and Talent Development, Anielia Siam, and attended by MTA Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Mohd Radzuan Mohamed and AKPK CEO Azaddin Ngah Tasir.

This is the third time the programme has been organised, beginning in 2022 and having travelled across the country. It started in Terengganu and continued through Kelantan and Pahang before reaching Sarawak, involving a total of 565 Vocational College students.

Throughout the programme, participants had the opportunity to engage in interesting activities such as financial simulations, speaker slots, treasure hunts, and fitness activities.

Under this programme, students are monitored consistently for a certain period to ensure they receive continuous guidance, ultimately having a long-term impact on the participants and the surrounding community.

“Our hope is that students will not only gain strong financial management skills for themselves but also share this knowledge with friends, family members, and their local community,” said Mohd Radzuan.

This programme is part of the Takaful4All campaign aimed at expanding the understanding of the value and importance of Takaful protection. It is organised in line with the Financial Literacy Month (FLM) initiative by the Financial Education Network (FEN), Bank Negara Malaysia (BNM).

In conjunction with FLM, MTA has conducted various financial literacy programmes, especially reaching out to communities in Sarawak, including the Takaful Masuk Kampung programme held in Kampung Semariang Batu here on Nov 10, attended by Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Fadillah Yusof.

MTA was also present at Vivacity Megamall for the Financial Literacy Carnival with BNM from Nov 15 to 17, where MTA organized the Takaful4All Fun Run on the last day of the carnival.
