KUALA LUMPUR, Nov 20 (Bernama) -- The Royal Malaysia Police (PDRM) is offering discounts of up to 60 per cent on traffic summonses during the Two Years of MADANI Government (2TM) Programme and the 2024 National Convention on Public Service Reform, taking place this Friday to Sunday at the Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre.
Home Ministry (KDN) Corporate Communications Division secretary, Fairul Nizam Che Rus, said this year’s discount is higher than the 50 per cent offered during last year’s programme.
“With a larger venue this year, we are setting up 25 counters for summons payments. The counters will operate from 9 am to 6 pm daily,” he said during Bernama TV’s Apa Khabar Malaysia programme today.
Besides the summons discounts, Fairul Nizam said the event will showcase the services and achievements of KDN agencies under the MADANI government’s leadership over the past two years
Fairul Nizam said the event will highlight key accomplishments, including advancements in public safety, foreigner management, citizenship matters, and improvements at entry points, which underscore KDN’s commitment to maintaining national peace and harmony.
“This year, Malaysia ranked 10th on the Global Peace Index, a significant jump from 19th place in 2023. KDN is dedicated to staying in the top 10 next year,” he said, adding that peace and stability are crucial for attracting investments.
He also cited KDN’s success in combating illegal immigration through enhanced enforcement by the Immigration Department, targeting undocumented immigrants and individuals misusing permits or travel documents.
Additionally, KDN has introduced QR codes at the Johor-Singapore border to ease cross-border travel, especially for Malaysians working in Singapore.
“We’ve also assisted nearly 20,000 undocumented Malaysians in obtaining identification cards or birth certificates. Moreover, this year’s constitutional amendment ensures equal citizenship rights for mothers, a groundbreaking step towards gender equality,” he said.
Previously, only fathers could pass citizenship to their children under the Federal Constitution, but the recent amendment now guarantees equal rights for both parents.
Fairul Nizam also announced the Jom Exchange Al-Quran (JEQ) initiative, where visitors can exchange old or uncertified Quran copies for new ones. This initiative, promoted via KDN’s official Facebook page, allows one exchange per person.
The 2TM programme, themed 'MADANI di hati, Rakyat disantuni', will be officially launched by Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim at 11 am on Saturday.
