21/11/2024 05:58 PM

KOTA BHARU, Nov 21 (Bernama) -- The Kelantan government has urged that all ongoing Federal Government projects in the state be expedited to ensure the availability of infrastructure, which is crucial for attracting foreign investment.

Menteri Besar Mohd Nassuruddin Mohd Daud said the state urgently needs initiatives to draw potential investments, particularly in infrastructure projects such as the construction of highways and the development of new industrial zones equipped with basic amenities.

He pointed to critical projects, including the Lingkaran Tengah Utama (LTU) Expressway,  the Kota Bharu-Kuala Krai Highway, Phase 3 of the East Coast Highway, the development of fully-equipped industrial zones and the construction of main substations in new industrial areas, as crucial steps to boost Kelantan’s economic growth.

“The state government believes these initiatives will significantly enhance our ability to attract investments and raise the living standards of the people,” he said when presenting the Kelantan budget for 2025 at the state assembly here today.

Mohd Nassuruddin also expressed confidence that the strong and ongoing relationship between the state and Federal Government, based on the principles of federalism, will greatly benefit Kelantan.

Meanwhile, he said the state government is committed to providing affordable housing to assist low- and middle-income households in securing comfortable homes.

“A total of RM9.6 million has been allocated for four housing projects: Bunut Susu, Kampung Gong Kadok, Meranti II and Telong,” he said.

In addition, RM232.45 million has been set aside for the maintenance of roads, drainage systems, bridges, transport terminals and public transport facilities, with RM7 million specifically allocated for Kota Bharu Sentral.

“Budget 2025 will continue to drive the state’s development through infrastructure projects, public amenities, affordable housing and the creation of new industrial zones,” he said.
