KOTA BHARU, Nov 25 (Bernama) -- The three victims who perished in a fatal crash in Setiu, Terengganu, early this morning were on their way back to Kelantan after attending their youngest daughter’s convocation ceremony at UNITAR International University in Putrajaya.

The sister-in-law of the victim, Yusnani Che Soh, 50, said the family is believed to have departed last night after the convocation ceremony of Nur Azwa Shamimi, 21.

Yusnani said she only learned of the tragic incident after being contacted by the police today.

“What I know is that three of them, my brother-in-law Kamaruddin Ibrahim, 55, his wife Maimunah Che Mat, 54, and their second daughter Nur Ardieana, 30, died in the accident,” she told reporters at their home in Kampung Telipot, here.

Nur Azwa Shamimi sustained severe injuries in the accident and is currently being treated at Setiu Hospital.

“My husband has already left for Setiu to bring home the three remains and to check on the condition of our niece,” she said.

She said the remains are expected to be buried tonight at the Maras Muslim Cemetery in Lundang, here.

At 4.50 am today, the Perodua Axia that the victims were travelling in collided with a four-wheel drive vehicle at Kampung Sungai Lerek, Kilometre 53 of the Kuala Terengganu-Kota Bharu Federal Road.
