MAIWP ANNOUNCES RM1.67 BLN BUDGET FOR 2025 – MOHD NA’IM

KUALA LUMPUR, Dec 12 (Bernama) -- The Federal Territories Islamic Religious Council (MAIWP) has set aside an estimated RM1.67 billion for 2025, an increase of 4.43 per cent from last year's RM1.60 billion budget.

Minister in the Prime Minister's Department (Religious Affairs) Datuk Dr Mohd Na’im Mokhtar said the increased amount aligns with MAIWP’s seven key focuses, which include empowerment and welfare of asnaf (tithe recipients), human capital development through education, and digital advancement with MAIWP IR4.0 (Industry 4.0).

"The estimated expenditure of RM1.67 billion includes RM1.34 billion for distribution, RM246 million for management and RM87 million for development.

"MAIWP’s projected revenue for 2025 stands at RM1.56 billion, an increase of 12 per cent compared to this year’s RM1.395 billion," he said at the announcement of the MAIWP Budget 2025 today.

He said that MAIWP aims to collect RM1.2 billion in tithe next year through the MAIWP Zakat Collection Centre.

“Other income streams for MAIWP will include rental activities, tuition fees, investments and grants from the Finance Ministry,” he added.

To assist asnaf facing financial issues, Mohd Na’im said MAIWP had expanded its Debt Settlement Assistance Scheme in collaboration with the Credit Counselling and Debt Management Agency (AKPK).

“This initiative provides eligible asnaf the opportunity to settle their loan debts and take new steps in their lives,” he said.

In a related development, Mohd Na’im announced a special incentive of RM500 for asnaf, benefiting 33,000 recipients in Kuala Lumpur, Putrajaya and Labuan, which will be distributed by Dec 31.
