RM2.5 Mln Marris Allocation Used For Slope Restoration In Seremban

02/01/2025 08:44 PM

SEREMBAN, Jan 2 (Bernama) -- The Seremban City Council (MBS) utilised an RM2.5 million allocation from the Malaysian Road Records Information System (MARRIS) for slope restoration work at Taman Bukit Berlian in Lobak, which was completed on Nov 9 last year.

Seremban Mayor Datuk Masri Razali said the repair work began on Dec 11, 2023, following a landslide in the area and declared a disaster zone in 2022.

"Another MARRIS project is the repair of a drain embankment in the Tasik Jaya industrial area, Senawang, completed on Nov 12 for RM1.1 million," he told reporters at the MBS project handover ceremony in Senawang today.

The handover involved the Taman Kemuning Community Centre, built at a cost of RM317,548, to serve the local community's needs.

Masri said residents were also provided with a futsal court worth RM181,014, funded by the Economy Ministry via the People's Facilities Initiative (IKR).

"These two facilities are part of the local authority's efforts to improve the quality of life for residents," he said.

Meanwhile, the Rukun Tetangga Chairman of Taman Kemuning, Shahrim Simin, 62, expressed gratitude to the government for providing the community centre after applying in 2019.

"Previously, we only held meetings in cabins or outdoors, with no proper place for the committee and community here to conduct activities.

"With this community centre, we can use it to carry out various community activities and foster better relationships among residents," he said.

Meanwhile, Masri said MBS had also allocated RM1.8 million for the construction of six community centres in Taman Kemuning, Taman Ixora, Taman Alamanda, Taman Shahbandar, and Taman Lily, which are completed, while the centre in Taman Sri Pulai is still under construction.
