SEPANG, Jan 3 (Bernama) -- Around 6,000 prospective pilgrims have agreed to accept the haj offer for the 1446H/2025 season so far, said the Minister in the Prime Minister's Department (Religious Affairs), Datuk Dr Mohd Na’im Mokhtar.
Speaking to the media after officiating the Third Haj, Umrah and Tourism carnival by the Haj Pilgrimage Organisers (Karnival PJH) here today, he said that the haj offer letters are expected to be distributed to the selected individuals by January 15.
"So, if they do not receive the offer by Jan 15, then they won’t receive it. Those who have received the offer letters means they have gone for a health check," he said.
"After Jan 15, we will begin the appeal process," he added.
He also said that TH had received around 60,000 haj appeal applications for this season since Dec 19 until today.
The media had previously reported that haj offer letters for 31,600 prospective pilgrims for the 1446H/2025M season were issued in stages starting from Dec 16.
Mohd Na'im also took the opportunity to remind the public to be cautious of fraudulent haj and umrah packages offered by unlicensed individuals and travel agencies.
He said that, despite various initiatives taken by TH management to regularly remind the public not to be deceived by questionable haj package offers, many people are still falling for illegal haj packages offered by irresponsible parties.
He added that the government takes the issue of fraudulent haj packages seriously and is determined to address cases of fraud involving Malaysian haj pilgrims through close cooperation with the Royal Malaysia Police, the Department of Waqf, Zakat and Haj (JAWHAR), as well as the Ministry of Tourism, Arts and Culture.
"I would like to stress here that individuals or companies offering haj package services without approval and a licence from TH can face legal action under the Tabung Haji Act 1995," he said.
"Therefore, I would like to remind all prospective hajj pilgrims to ensure that the haj package they wish to take is from one of the 37 licensed Haj Pilgrimage Organisers approved by TH, including those who receive Furada and Mujamalah visas, so that monitoring can be conducted to ensure all Malaysian haj pilgrims receive the best service," he said.
