PUTRAJAYA, Jan 8 (Bernama) -- The recently concluded two-day official visit by Singapore Prime Minister Lawrence Wong to Malaysia has strengthened bilateral ties and boosted economic growth prospects, said Communications Minister Fahmi Fadzil.
Fahmi, who is also the spokesperson for the Unity Government, said several collaborative agreements between Malaysia and Singapore were discussed during today’s Cabinet meeting.
“The close relationship between Malaysia and Singapore will continue to be enhanced with some matters still under discussion to find the best solutions for both nations,” he told a press conference here today.
Fahmi said the visit has enhanced public perception of the strong ties between Malaysia and Singapore, particularly regarding economic growth opportunities through the Johor-Singapore Special Economic Zone (JS-SEZ).
He also said that today’s discussions touched on the successful launch of the Visit Malaysia 2026 (VM 2026) campaign.
“We hope that our media partners will play a key role in promoting the government’s efforts to promote Malaysia as a top destination,”Fahmi said.
Malaysia aims to attract 35.6 million visitors and generate RM147.1 billion in revenue for VM 2026.
The campaign was officially launched by Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim on Jan 6.
