Perak Records RM45.62 Million Surplus Last Year

23/01/2025 08:31 PM

IPOH, Jan 23 (Bernama) -- Perak recorded an RM45.62 million revenue surplus last year, said Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Saarani Mohamad.

He said this achievement marks the third consecutive year the state has posted a surplus, starting from 2022.

“This highlights the capability of state civil servants to maintain recovery momentum after the challenges posed by the COVID-19 pandemic while effectively collaborating to drive the state's economy in a more organised manner.

“Despite global economic uncertainties, the state's economy continued to grow, maintaining a growth momentum of 2.7 per cent, with the Gross Domestic Product (GDP) reaching RM82.6 billion in 2023,” he said in his speech at the Executive Talk and 2025 New Year mandate held at a hotel here today, which was attended by over 700 civil servants.

Saarani said the state's financial performance also significantly improved, with revenue collection increasing to RM1.332 billion last year, an increase of RM118 million compared to the previous year.

“On top of that, thanks to prudent financial management, Perak received the Auditor-General's Certificate Without Reprimand for the 2023 State Government Financial Statements, positioning Perak among the top five states in monetary governance.

“This is undoubtedly a proud achievement that reflects the dedication, integrity, and hard work of all state civil servants,” he said.

Elaborating further, Saarani said the state government had outlined five key focus areas this year as part of efforts to realise the Perak Sejahtera 2030 plan, which the Sultan of Perak, Sultan Nazrin Shah, advocated.

“The five main focuses are sustainable and resilient economy, high-impact delivery systems; nurturing human capital towards Perak Sejahtera 2030; technology and innovation as drivers of change; and sustainability and preparedness for disaster management,” he said.
