KUALA LUMPUR, Jan 27 (Bernama) -- The Melody of Spring 2025 Transnational Spring Festival Gala, marking the arrival of the Year of the Snake, is taking place in Nanning, the capital of Guangxi Zhuang autonomous region.

Scheduled to premiere on Jan 27 on Nanning Radio and Television Station's News Comprehensive Channel, the gala will be broadcast on nearly 48 media platforms in 16 countries and regions, with subtitles in multiple languages.

Co-hosted by multiple local governmental bodies, this year’s gala centres around the theme, "Crossing Mountains and Seas to Celebrate the New Year, Reuniting in Harmony and Joy", which emphasises the connection of diverse cultures and emotional resonance through aesthetic performance.

According to a statement, the gala is structured into four key chapters, namely Spring, Warmth, Flower, and Bloom, each conveying themes of new beginnings, the warmth of home, the romance of love, as well as openness and unity.

The event highlights traditional Chinese culture with performances such as Ode to Landscape, where the dancers' movements embody the natural beauty of Guangxi’s landscapes, and New Year Painting, a captivating blend of opera and dance that brings life to traditional art forms.

International performances also play a central role, with ASEAN performers adding energy and diversity. Highlights include the Thai boy band PERSES' energetic performance and a song medley, Hearts Connected across Mountains and Seas, which showcases Southeast Asian musical traditions.

The gala also features Love of Landscape, a Sino-Vietnamese duet celebrating the deep bond between China and Vietnam while highlighting Nanning's role as an international, open, and inclusive metropolis, fostering cooperation with ASEAN.

Additionally, Love·Ning, the theme song for Nanning’s Singles Concert, makes its debut. This year, the gala expands its reach with segments filmed across Vietnam, Thailand, Indonesia, and Laos, offering a rich cultural exchange that unites the festive celebrations of various regions.

The event is attended by numerous dignitaries, including consuls from Thailand, Vietnam, Cambodia, Laos, Myanmar, and Malaysia.
