SEREMBAN, Jan 30 (Bernama) -- The Malaysian Civil Defence Force (APM) has introduced the APM@Gig initiative, allowing volunteers and members to engage in gig work outside of their official duties.
APM Chief Commissioner Datuk Aminurrahim Mohamed said the initiative provides an opportunity for skilled individuals to offer gig-based services, particularly in areas involving risk or threat reduction and current needs.
“This includes cleaning work or other activities in private or high-risk areas, with payment or sponsorship, without disrupting the core responsibilities of APM volunteers and members.
"The initiative started with the ‘Sigap Efisien Depani Ancaman Risiko (SEdAR) programme which focuses on minimising or preventing risks to life and property. It also targets underserved areas, elderly communities, and disaster-prone locations," he said in a statement.
The statement was issued after the launch of the SEdAR dan APM@GIG programme at Felda Palong 9, Gemas here today.
Aminurrahim said the objectives of SEdAR included creating a more prepared and resilient community, providing alternatives to overcome risks and threats and optimising the skills of APM volunteers in helping the community.
He said the program also provided opportunities for organisations, companies and individuals to fulfil their corporate social responsibility or to contribute to reducing risks thus ensuring the smooth running of local community activities.
