PORT DICKSON, Jan 31 (Bernama) --  The opening of National Information Dissemination Centres (NADI) in each district is fostering local communities to deepen their understanding of technology and innovation through the smart services offered.

Negeri Sembilan Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Aminuddin Harun said since its launch in July, a total of 6,924 users have participated in the smart service programmes available at 62 NADI centres across the state.

“This highlights the success of the initiative by the Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission (MCMC) in enhancing the quality of life for local communities.

“I have been informed by MCMC that, in addition to the smart services, there are also activities related to Artificial Intelligence (AI), which is a key driver of global change today.

“ These facilities help students and residents acquire new knowledge aligned with current trends,” he told reporters after the official launch of the Chuah NADI centre here today.

Also present were Chuah assemblyman Yew Boon Lye, deputy state secretary (Management) Datuk Rozitta Sulaiman, MCMC Southern Region Senior Director Mohamad Rizal Ahmad and Maxis representative Azizul Abdul Rahman.

Aminuddin expressed hope that the NADI centres would become hubs for knowledge and technology in the community, empowering them to build a more tech-savvy generation.

“NADI serves as a platform to empower communities through digital innovation and inclusivity. Local communities must seize the opportunity to enhance their living standards, improve their skills and become more proactive and innovative,” he said.

Sylvester Ayum, a 15-year-old student from Sekolah Menengah Kebangsaan Tanah Merah, said he has been able to dive deeper into robotics learning through the NADI centre and praised it for offering a comfortable environment to browse the internet.

T. Preesha, 28, a student from Multimedia University Melaka, also acknowledged that the facilities provided at the NADI centre have greatly assisted her in completing assignments, especially during semester breaks.

“This place is impressive. I feel very comfortable with the services provided, particularly in terms of using the internet smoothly to access materials,” she said.
