KUALA LUMPUR, Feb 7 (Bernama) -- Poor parents of 16 in Kampung Chengal Lempong, Kuantan, Pahang, today received a food basket and cash donation from Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim.
It was presented by the Prime Minister’s Political Secretary Datuk Ahmad Farhan Fauzi to the head of the family, known only as Salim, during the Ziarah MADANI programme aimed at alleviating the financial burden of underprivileged families across the country.
“The Prime Minister is also deeply concerned about the need to repair Mr Salim's house and has already directed efforts to carry out the necessary repairs,” said Ahmad Farhan in a Facebook post today, which was also shared by Anwar.
According to Ahmad Farhan, eight of the couple’s children were still living with them in their small house, with four of them still attending school.
“He (Salim) told me that he only earns about RM1,000 per month and could not afford to repair the house as the needs of his children must take priority.
“His life may be challenging, but he has never stopped putting in all his effort to support his family... I pray that Mr Salim and his family remain strong as they face the days ahead,” he said, adding that the Ziarah MADANI initiative will continue to be strengthened, as there are still many families like Salim’s who need help and support.
