KUALA LUMPUR, Feb 7 (Bernama) -- The OSH-MADANI programme, which provides free training to produce 10,000 Occupational Safety and Health Coordinators (OSH-C), is now open for applications.
The National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health (NIOSH) said in a statement that the programme aims to produce competent OSH-Cs to strengthen safety compliance and ensure workers' well-being.
According to NIOSH, the programme is open to Malaysian citizens aged 25 to 50 with at least one year of work experience, but the unemployed, the self-employed, or those working in companies that do not contribute to HRD Corp can also apply.
"It is only open to employees in micro-companies with an annual income below RM300,000 and fewer than five staff, as well as small companies with an annual income below RM15 million and fewer than 75 employees," read the statement.
Application forms can be found on its website at www.niosh.com.my and will be reviewed within seven working days. NIOSH will contact eligible individuals via SMS, WhatsApp, or phone for course location and date selection.
On Jan 26, Human Resources Minister Steven Sim said the ministry, through NIOSH, would provide free OSH coordinator accreditation training to 10,000 participants from small and medium enterprises, involving an allocation of about RM9 million.
Meanwhile, NIOSH said the OSH-MADANI programme is part of the government's effort to ensure that every worker, including those in micro and small enterprises, has access to quality safety training.
"In addition, it also supports the micro and small enterprises, which play an important role in the country's economic development, in line with the principles of inclusivity and sustainability promoted by the MADANI government," the statement added.
